Where’s My Red Ball?

Interactive Flip Book – 1st Grade Primary (EFL)

In our English classroom, we learn through stories, movement and play. That is how Where’s My Red Ball? was created.

Where’s My Red Ball? is an engaging and simple story inspired by the classic Where’s Spot?, specially adapted for 1st Grade Primary students. This time, Spot is not lost. Spot is looking for his red ball!

Na aula de inglés, aprendemos a través de contos e xogos. Naceu a historia Onde está a miña pelota vermella?, inspirada no libro Where’s Spot?, onde Spot non está perdido, senón que busca a súa pelota vermella.

As we read the story, children help Spot search around the house. They look under the table, on the sofa, in the cupboard and under the bed. The children listen carefully and answer the question:“Where’s the red ball?” They learn to say full sentences like: The red ball is under the table.

Through this story, students practise:

  • Prepositions of place (in, on, under…)
  • Furniture vocabulary (bed, table, chair, sofa…)
  • Colours
  • Speaking in complete sentences

Con esta historia trabállanse: As preposicións de lugar (in, on, under…), o vocabulario dos mobles (bed, table, chair, sofa…), as corese a expresión oral con frases completas.

We also created a special flip book version of the story. Children can lift flaps, open doors and look under furniture while we tell the story. This makes learning more exciting and helps them understand better.

In addition, we have added some visual symbols to the text . These small visual supports help children:

  • Understand meaning more easily
  • Remember vocabulary
  • Feel more confident when reading
  • Support children who need extra help

Visual support is especially helpful for young learners because they understand images before they can fully read independently.

Tamén creamos un flip book interactivo que fai a aprendizaxe máis dinámica, engadindo pictogramas que axudan ao alumnado a comprender mellor o significado, recordar o vocabulario, sentirse máis seguros na lectura e apoiar especialmente a quen precisa máis axuda.

This activity helps children:

  • Improve their listening skills
  • Gain confidence speaking in English
  • Recognise simple sentence patterns
  • Begin early reading and writing skills

Esta actividade contribúe a mellorar comprensión oral, gañar confianza ao falar, recoñecer frases sinxelas e iniciar lectura e escritura guiada.

Stories like this make learning English natural and fun. When Spot finally finds his red ball, the children feel proud — because they helped him and they used English to do it.

Este tipo de contos converten a aprendizaxe do inglés nunha experiencia natural e significativa. E cando finalmente aparece a pelota vermella, a ilusión do alumnado demostra que aprender tamén pode ser divertido.
