World Mission 2: My favourite subject

Here you have our last mission in Level 3

What an interesting mission!This time, they had to write about school timetables and their favourite school day and favourite subject.

It was a great opportunity for us to get to know each other better.

The mission had different levels:

Level 1: Complete your timetable

Level 2: Write a draft

Level 3: Prepare the writing

Level 4: Make an oral presentation

2º ciclo, level 4, WORLD MISSION

World Mission 1 in Grade 4

World Mission 1 in Grade 4 is over.

The last part of World Mission 1 involves presenting students’ works and analizing them. It “allows students to develop a deeper insight into the quality of their own work through the assessment of peers’ work. Students take responsibility for assessing the work of their peers using the assessment criteria.”

What are the pros?

  • students take responsibility for making assessment judgments and learn how to evaluate work by their peers
  • students develop the skills to reflect on and evaluate their own work
  • students learn from formulating feedback to their peers
  • students receive a broader range of feedback from multiple peer assessors, who are working on a similar task, and are at a similar stage in learning
  • students are motivated to engage with the assessment task, and to engage in dialogue about feedback

    A derradeira parte da misión consiste en presentar os traballos e analizalos. Isto permite ao alumnado desenvolver unha visión máis profunda da calidade do seu propio traballo a través da avaliación do traballo dos seus compañeiros. Os estudantes asumen a responsabilidade de avaliar o traballo dos seus compañeiros utilizando os criterios de avaliación.

    Cales son as vantaxes?

    • Os estudantes asumen a responsabilidade de emitir xuízos de avaliación e aprenden a avaliar o traballo dos seus compañeiros.
    • Os estudantes asumen a responsabilidade de emitir xuízos de avaliación e aprenden a avaliar o traballo dos seus compañeiros.
    • Os estudantes aprenden formulando retroalimentación aos seus compañeiros.
    • Os estudantes reciben unha gama máis ampla de comentarios de múltiples pares avaliadores, que están a traballar nunha tarefa similar e atópanse nunha etapa similar de aprendizaxe.
    • Os estudantes están motivados para participar na tarefa de avaliación e establecer un diálogo sobre a retroalimentación.

    𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝘼𝘽𝙊𝙐𝙏 𝙈𝙀 𝙎𝙐𝙄𝙏𝘾𝘼𝙎𝙀

    All about me is a classsical and perfect resource to kick off a new school year. If you have a new group of students and you don’t know them yet, this activity is a good way to learn each other (my family, my hobbies, my skills, my class, my teacher and grade, my favourites, etc..). Furthermore, another goal beside it is to help pupils to bring back what they learnt last school year in a fun way.

    All about me é un recurso perfecto e moi socorrido para comezar o curso escolar, tanto se comezamos cun novo grupo de alumnos e alumnas como se continuamos co do curso pasado. É un recurso perfecto para coñecernos así como para recordar todo o que aprenderon o ano pasado.

    This activity can be complete and colour by the children, then they can present themselves to their classmates. So, another great benefit related to this type of activities is that they can practice their oral skills and, at the same time, the teacher can learn some information about them.

    Esta actividade pode ser completada e decorada para ser presentada aos compañeiros e compañeiras de clase. Polo que, este tipo de actividades resultan moi beneficiosas para practicar as habilidades orais á vez que son unha boa fonte para obter información dos nosos alumnos e alumnas.

    This year we have a new crafting version. They can create their own and customized suitcase. I recommend you to print it in a DINA4 size and in cardboard paper, so it will be more resistant.

    Este ano temos unha nova versión. Cada un puido crear e curtomizar a súa maleta. Para que a manualidade adquira máis consistencia, é recomendable imprimir en cartulina.

    Finally, it is worthy to use them as a part of the classroom decoration. In this regard, one of the best things about All About Me activities is that they are in a position to build self-esteem. Children feel proud to share their personal interests , likes and their “suitcases” with their classmates.

    Finalmente, merece a pena expor os traballos na clase. Neste sentido, este tipo de actividades son moi beneficiosas para traballar a autoestima do alumnado. Os rapaces síntense moi orgullosos cando poden compartir os seus traballos así como os seus intereses e gustos cos seus compañeiros.

    3º ciclo, Endangered animals brief project, What do you know about animals?

    Endangered animals first presentations

    Today. two children from Level 6 showed us what they had found out about their favourite endangered animals. They prepared a Powerpoint presentation to illustrate their oral presentation. Congratulations…Good job!!!

    Hoxe, dúas alumnas de 6º  realizaron unha exposición oral do que averiguaran sobre os seus animais favoritos que, por desgracia, están en perigo de extinción. Para elo, prepararon unha presentación Powerpoint que lles serviu para ilustrar todo o que nos querían contar.

     

    At first, they were afraid of not doing a good job, but little by little, they gained confidence and, finally, they  enjoyed the activity.As always, this type of activity also allowed us to check, learn and improve.

    Ao comezo, tiñan moito medo de non facelo ben pero, pouco a pouco, comenzaron a gañar confianza e, finalmente, gozaron da actividade. E, coma sempre, este tipo de actividade axúdanos a revisar o que fixemos, aprender e , sobre todo, mellorar.


    We are looking foward to enjoying the other classmates’ presentations.

    2º ciclo, Christmas

    CHRISTMAS DINNER

    On 25th December English people eat a big lunch or dinner.They eat turkey with gravy, roast potaoes, sprouts and other vegetable. For dessert, they have hot Christmas pudding.

    They pull Christmas crackers at the table. There are paper hats and presents in the crackers.

    Here you have my students’ Christmas dinner. Delicious!

    Letters from Level 4

    These last weeks, students in level 4 have been learning  how to talk about on-going actions. In order to practise their writing and oral skills, they wrote a letter about their families at the weekend first and then they read it aloud  to the rest of the class. This type of activities provides a great opportunity to learn from and correct the mistakes and improve.
