This year, students in level 5 celebrated Bonfire Night at school. They learnt why and how people all around UK celebrate Bonfire Night and they made their own “guys”.
If you want to know more things about this celebration, take a look at de following presentation.

On 5th November 1605 a man called Guy Fawkes tried to kill King James I. The King was Protestant and Guy Fawkes was Catholic. He put a bomb under the Houses of Parliament, in London, but he was discovered and executed.
To commemorate this, in the evening of 5th November people all over Britain celebrate Bonfire Night. People build bonfires and make effigies of Guy Fawkes with old clothes and newspapers. These are called “guys” and people put them on the bonfires to burn them. They also light lots of fireworks. Nowadays “guy” means “person” or “man”.

(Holla*)Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

¡Hip hip Hurra!
