Winter bingo in kinder

Playing bingo is a great game all year long. It can actually help young children develop listening skills, self-regulation, and visual discrimination. Furthermore, Bingo is a great way to introduce young children to games because there are few rules and each player has his or her own game board.

There’s plenty of learning that takes place when you play bingo with your kids!

BINGO SUPPLIES

This is what you need:

Printable Winter Bingo cards(laminate or place in page protectors for extended use)

A spin wheel with calling cards( winter vocabulary and actions icons)

Felt-tips and erasers or tokens to mark off squares

HOW TO PLAY

Start by giving one winter bingo card to each child and one felt-tip and an eraser . If you prefer using tokens, place in the centre of the table so all of the children can easily reach them. Another option could be to give children a black and white printable version and dot-a-dot maker to ech children. Do-a-Dot markers are very fun and engaging for young children.

After review the vocabulary and actions, you may demonstrate how to listen to the bingo caller and how to search for a particular image on the bingo card and cover it with a marker.

It’s very important to demonstrate how to play bingo a few times before starting the game. But once children catch on to how the game is played, everything would run smoothly!

Spin the wheel and pull a calling card out. Once the player has completed the set pattern, they yell “Bingo” and they win!

ALTERNATIVE WINTER BINGO

If you want to make this bingo funnier, each time a calling card is pulling out you can exchange it for an action calling card. They will have to jump, run, spin around…, find colours around the classroom or express emotions and feelings.

In this way, we can be playing for a long time as well as allowing those children who find it more difficult to stay still and concentrate for long periods of time, a moment to disconnect and relax.
