In English class, we worked on a fun activity about fruit. This activity was connected to a story we read in class. In the story, the characters made a fruit salad for a picnic. This gave us a meaningful context to practise fruit vocabulary and the structures Do you like…?, I like… and I don’t like…
Nesta actividade de inglés traballamos o vocabulario das froitas a partir dunha historia lida na aula, na que os protagonistas preparaban unha fruit salad para un picnic.
- First, we reviewed the fruit vocabulary. We remembered the words from the story and also some fruit words we had learnt in previous years.
- To practise, we used a set of cards. On one side of each card there was a fruit word, and on the other side there was a picture of the fruit. Each child chose a card and answered the question: Do you like…?
- Then, each child placed the word card next to the correct fruit picture. When all the cards were placed, we turned them over to check the answers. As the picture was on the back of each card, the children could see if they were correct.

Primeiro repasamos as palabras das froitas cun xogo de tarxetas. Cada neno/a escollía unha tarxeta, respondía á pregunta Do you like…? e colocaba a palabra ao lado da imaxe correspondente. Despois, comprobamos as respostas xirando as tarxetas.
After that, we started our Picnic Mission. We had a bowl and a set of fruit cards. The teacher first gave an example: she chose a fruit card, put it in the bowl and said: I like apples in my fruit salad.
Then, the children took turns. They listened to the teacher, chose the correct fruit card, put it in the bowl and repeated the sentence. The children practiced the structures I like….I don’t like…

A continuación, fixemos unha actividade oral cun bol e tarxetas de froitas. Por quendas, o alumnado escoitaba o modelo da mestra, escollía a froita correcta, metíaa no bol e repetía frases como I like apples in my fruit salad ou I don’t like oranges.
After the speaking activity, we did the Picnic Writing Challenge. This writing activity had three steps.
- First, the children planned their fruit salad. They marked a tick next to the fruit they liked and a cross next to the fruit they did not like.
- Then, they drew their own fruit salad in a bowl.
- Finally, they wrote a short text using these sentences: In my fruit salad, I like apples, bananas and strawberries.
I don’t like oranges.

Finalmente, realizamos unha pequena actividade escrita en tres pasos: primeiro planificaron a súa ensalada marcando cun tick as froitas que lles gustan e cunha cruz as que non; despois debuxaron a súa fruit salad; e, por último, escribiron un pequeno texto empregando as estruturas traballadas.
This activity helped the children practise fruit vocabulary, speaking and writing in English. They also learnt how to express their likes and dislikes in a simple way.
The children enjoyed creating their own fruit salads and sharing them with the class. Our little picnic chefs did a great job!

Con esta actividade practicamos vocabulario, comprensión oral, expresión oral e escrita dun xeito lúdico, visual e significativo.
