Today, we want to share one of the most successful routines in our English classes: Exit Tickets.

An Exit Ticket is a quick activity (2 to 3 minutes) we do at the end of the lesson. It includes a simple question or challenge to see what the students learned today.
Currently, first graders are reading Where’s my red ball?. We are using this time to introduce this concept, practicing prepositions (in, on, under, next to) and classroom words. At the end of the session, the children receive a ticket with challenges like:
- Draw: “The red ball is under the table.”
- Identify: Where is the red ball in this picture?
- Write: Complete the keyword of the day.
Actualmente, estamos aprendendo sobre Where’s my red ball?, enfocándonos nas preposicións e vocabulario relacionados coa clase, e os peques reciben un ticket con retos ao final da sesión.
The exciting part for them comes next. If the exit ticket shows they understood the day’s concept, they get to color a coin in their Point Notebook! This is a big reward for them.
This routine has two key benefits:
- For the students: They can see themselves “leveling up” and feel responsible for their own learning. They love seeing their notebooks filled with achievements!
- For the teacher: It allows me to know instantly who might need a little extra help tomorrow and who is ready for the next challenge.
