My Adventure Passport is a fun and active way for kids to practise English while using their imagination.
They’ll talk, move, write and work together — all while planning what to take on a camping trip!

In this activity, students learn to use the phrase “I’m going to take…” and explore camping and adventure vocabulary in a playful, meaningful way.
Step 1: Running Dictation – Team Mission Mode!
We started with an energetic running dictation to activate key vocabulary and grammar through teamwork.
- Students worked in pairs.
- There were two roles:
🔹 The runner picked up a card with a sentence (e.g. “I’m going to take a torch”), memorised it, and said it aloud to their partner.
🔹 The writer listened carefully and wrote it down. - They switched roles after each turn.
The goal: write as many correct sentences as possible before time ran out.
This activity was fast, fun and encouraged accurate sentence building.

Step 2: Camp Packing Race – “Pack Your Bag!”
Next, teams worked together to prepare for a fictional adventure.
- Each group received a destination card (like Desert Island or Rainy Forest).
- They looked at the weather and clues on the card, then chose 5 useful objects.
- They used complete sentences to explain their choices:
🗣 “I’m going to take a tent because it’s rainy.”
This stage helped consolidate vocabulary in context and introduced the idea of planning for a real situation.

Step 3: My Adventure Passport
In the final stage, students completed their personal writing task.
- Each student received a different destination card with a short description and clues (e.g. It’s hot and sunny. You are near the sea.).
- Based on the destination, they chose 5 objects and wrote:
“I’m going to take sun cream.”
“I’m going to take a towel.” - A simple checklist helped them review their work.
Each passport was unique and matched their personal adventure!
Why it works:
- Combines speaking, listening, decision-making, and writing skills
- Transforms grammar into a gamified challenge
- Makes planning and communication part of the task
- Encourages creativity, autonomy and collaboration
- Promotes practical thinking in language learning
This 3-step journey — Running Dictation → Packing Race → Passport Writing — makes grammar visible, fun and full of purpose. Students don’t just write. They become explorers.
