We are ready to start Mission 2 in Level 4, but first, we did a pre-activity. That helped students get ready, practice English, and prepare for the next challenge: The discovery of the Secrets of the Talking Key.
Estamos listos para comezar a Misión 2 en 4º de Primaria, pero primeiro fixemos unha pre-actividade. Esta axudou aos estudantes a practicar inglés e prepararse para o próximo reto: O descubrimento dos Segredos da Chave Parlante.
Pre-Activity: Discovering the Secrets of the Talking Key
Objective
- Ensure students know their tasks by practicing skills like asking questions, taking notes, and organizing information simply and enjoyably.
- Simplificar a misión para que os alumnos a comprendan mellor, practicando habilidades para facer preguntas, tomar notas e organizar información de forma fácil e divertida.
Introductory Story
Before we started interviewing our classmates, we put ourselves in the shoes of Rita Skeeter, the famous journalist from the Daily Prophet. With her magical quill and her skill for uncovering secrets, she inspired us to become magical reporters for a day. In this activity:
- We explored how Rita Skeeter asks interesting questions during her interviews.
- We practiced writing magical questions that would help us get to know our classmates better.
- We learned the importance of listening carefully and taking good notes.
Antes de comezar a entrevistar aos nosos compañeiros, puxémonos na pel de Rita Skeeter, a famosa xornalista do Profeta Diario. Coa súa pluma máxica e a súa habilidade para descubrir segredos, inspirounos para convertirnos en reporteiros máxicos por un día.
Nesta actividade:
- Exploramos como Rita Skeeter fai preguntas interesantes para as súas entrevistas.
- Practicamos a redacción de preguntas máxicas que nos axuden a coñecer mellor aos nosos compañeiros.
- Aprendemos a importancia de escoitar con atención e tomar boas notas, ¡coma verdadeiros magos da comunicación!
Activity Development
1. Introduction: What is an Interview?
- Brief Explanation:
- An interview is when you ask someone questions to learn more about them.
- In this mission, we will learn about our classmates’ tastes, especially regarding TV and characters.

- Explicación breve:
- A entrevista é cando facemos preguntas a outra persoa para coñecer algo máis sobre ela.
- Nesta misión, aprenderemos sobre os gustos dos nosos compañeiros, especialmente sobre televisión e personaxes.
2. Activity: “The Sorting Hat Asks”
- Materials:
- A hat (or image of the Sorting Hat) and strips of paper with simple questions related to likes and preferences.
- Example questions:
- Do you like ………?
- Who is your favorite cartoon character?
- What is your favourite…..?
- Development:
- Each student draws a question from the hat.
- Ask your teacher the question and write down the answer on your magical parchment (a decorated sheet of paper, portfolio or a notebook).
2. Actividade: “O Sombrero Seleccionador Pregunta”
- Materiais:
- Un sombrero (ou imaxe do Sombrero Seleccionador) e anacos de papel con preguntas sinxelos relacionadas cos gustos e preferencias.
- Exemplos de preguntas.
- Desenvolvemento:
- Cada alumno saca unha pregunta do sombrero.
- Fai a pregunta ao teu mestre/mestra e anota a resposta no teu pergamiño máxico (unha folla de papel decorada, portfolio da misión ou un caderno).
3. Organizing Ideas
In this step, the students will work in small groups. The goal is for them to collaborate with each other to review the notes from the interview, identify the main ideas, and decide the best way to structure the report. Working as a team will help share ideas and ensure that the report reflects the best of each person.
The teacher will guide an example of how to organize the information in a simple mini-report (title/ introduction/ body/ conclusion)
3. Organización das ideas
Nesta fase de organización de ideas, os alumnos traballarán en pequenos grupos. O obxectivo é que colaboren entre eles para revisar as notas da entrevista, identificar as ideas principais e decidir a mellor maneira de estruturar o informe. Traballar en equipo axudará a compartir ideas e asegurar que o informe reflicta o mellor de cada un.
O mestre ou mestra guiará un exemplo de como organizar a información nun mini-informe sinxelo (título, introdución, corpo e conclusión)
4. Group Reflection
The group reflection on the pre-activity enables students to evaluate their teamwork, share insights, and identify areas for improvement, thus reinforcing learning and collaboration skills for future activities.
- Example of questions for students:
- What was the easiest or most fun part of asking questions?
- How did you organize the answers from the interview? What criteria did you use to group them?
- Which part of the article was easiest to write? Which part was harder?
- What role did each group member play in organizing and writing the draft of the article?
- How was the experience of working as a team to structure the ideas? Do you think working in a group improved the final result?
- Why is it important to listen carefully when writing a report?
4. Reflexión grupal
A reflexión grupal sobre a preactividade permite aos estudantes avaliar o seu traballo en equipo, compartir ideas e identificar áreas de mellora, reforzando así as habilidades de aprendizaxe e colaboración para futuras actividades.
- Preguntas para os alumnos:
- Que foi o máis sinxelo ou divertido de facer preguntas?
- Como organizachedes as respostas da entrevista? Que criterios usachedes para agrupalas?
- Que papel tivo cada membro do grupo na organización e redacción do borrador?
- Que parte foi máis fácil de escribir? E cal foi máis difícil?
- Como foi a experiencia de traballar en equipo? Mellorou o resultado final?
- Por que é importante escoitar ben para escribir un informe?
