Mission 2: A survey about frecuency

They got it! Mission 2 is over.

In this new mission, students in Level 5 found out about the frecuency students in Level 6 do something at the weekend and wrote a short report.

To do so, they had to beat different levels working in pairs:

Level 1: Select a survey topic and write a questionare.

In this level, I previously explain what a survey is and why people do them. Furthermore, we learnt how to plan a survey.

The main aim in this level was each pair to use their initiative to choose a survey topic and write the appropiate question.

Level 2: Interview students in Level 6

Students used a tally chart as a method to collect information they needed. Then, counting the tally marks , they had to represent the information using a pie chart or a bar graph as instruments to help us understand the information.

The aim of this level was to develop children mathematical skills when they doing a tally chart and converting the data into a pie chart.

Level 3: Write a draft.

Level 4: Prepare the report.

Level 5: Make an oral presentation.

Dialogues and role plays

Stayhome dialogues level 6

We have to stay at home and we can’t see  talk to our friends. Nonetheless this must not be an impediment to achieve interesting activities as if we were at school. Here you have some dialogues acting out by students in level 6.

1º ciclo, Challenges in Level 1

Little Great Interviewers

The main aims of this new challenge in level 1 were:

To practise what they have learnt in context.

To involve all families in their children’s learning process .

To learn in a fun way.

On this occasion the challenge was purposed by the children after 1 week working with the “Question of the week”: What’s your favourite animal?

Each day, the lesson started as follows:

“If you want to come and join the class….Answer the Question of the week”

Once being familiar with the Question of the week and the vocabulary, I explained that they were going to become interviewers. In L1 we talked about why people do an interview (“get information”)and what we need to make it(“questions”). Finally, before interviewing two classmates  they prepared their interviews.

Here you have the first three interviews received.

Gozar aprendendo.

Durante unha semana, para familiarizarnos coa pregunta da unidade, soamente podíamos acceder á aula respondendo a pregunta da semana: What’s your favourite animal?

2º ciclo

We can talk!!!!

Interviews can be a great resource for writing, speaking and listening practise in the ESL classroom. Especially when the interviewees are the older students. It’s an enriching experience!!!!
Before starting, we take a few minutes to do a grammar and vocabulary review in order to make sure if they know how to ask questions and the vocabulary they have to use.
Then, they have to establish the information they want to get and according to them, they prepare their interview questions on their notebooks.
It’s also beneficial to spend a few minutes talking about how they must conduct the interview, remembering some good interview manners like listening carefully or saying thank you at the end.
Now, we are ready!!!!!
