Today, our Early Years children (3, 4 and 5 years old) lived a very special experience in our English classroom. We continued working with our version of the story Handa’s Surprise, but this time… through play, light and discovery.
Hoxe, o alumnado de Infantil (3, 4 e 5 anos) viviu unha experiencia moi especial na aula de inglés. Seguimos traballando coa nosa versión da historia Handa’s Surprise, pero esta vez… a través do xogo, da luz e da exploración.
We prepared a big box with blue sand. Inside, there were small baskets hiding fruits from the story. The children used fishing rods to catch a basket. Then, using a flashlight, they discovered the hidden fruit inside. Little by little, voices started to appear: “Banana!” “Apple!” .Together, we talked about the fruit: “I like…” “I don’t like…”
Preparamos unha caixa con area azul. Dentro, había pequenas cestas que agochaban as froitas da historia. O alumnado empregou canas para pescar unha cesta. Despois, usando unha lanterna, descubriron a froita agochada no seu interior. Pouco a pouco, comezaron a escoitarse voces nomeando a froita que estaba escondida nas cestas. Entre todos, falamos sobre a froita empregando as estruturas I like …. ou I don’t like…
After that, the children had to find the bag with the fruit model and the cubes. Working in pairs, they built the fruit using linking cubes. They helped each other, talked, and shared ideas.

This activity combines language, play and creativity. Children learn better when they can touch, explore and experiment.
