Pete’s Cool Adventure: Learning English with Style!

We are happy to present a new story in our section Good Books to Read.
Estamos contentos de presentar un novo conto na nosa sección Good Books to Read.

What should I wear today? That’s the big question for Pete the Cat in Too Cool for School. Through this funny story, children follow Pete as he tries on different clothes and colours until he discovers that the most important thing is to feel good about yourself.

Que roupa poño hoxe? Esa é a gran pregunta de Pete the Cat en Too Cool for School. A través deste divertido conto, os nenos e nenas acompañan a Pete mentres proba diferentes prendas e cores ata descubrir que o máis importante é sentirse ben con un mesmo.


In the English classroom, this book is a fantastic resource to:

  • Learn vocabulary about clothes and colours.
  • Practise simple structures such as I like… or I’m wearing….
  • Work on self-esteem and the idea that being yourself is always the coolest choice.

No aula de lingua inglesa, este libro convértese nun recurso fantástico para:

  • Aprender vocabulario de roupa e cores.
  • Reforzar estruturas sinxelas como I like… ou I’m wearing….
  • Traballar a autoestima e a idea de que ser un mesmo sempre é o máis “cool”.

Its repetitive style, colourful illustrations, and humour make it perfect for both preschool and primary levels. It also invites playful activities: a classroom fashion show, memory games with clothes and colours, or role play.
O seu estilo repetitivo, as ilustracións chamativas e o humor fan que sexa perfecto tanto para infantil como para primaria. Ademais, invita a crear actividades lúdicas: desde un desfile de moda na aula ata xogos de memoria con prendas e cores.

Pete the Cat reminds us that learning English can be as much fun as choosing your favourite T-shirt.

Today we presented the story in class following our planned session: we began with greetings, actions, and the weather routine. During the shared reading, every time a clothing item appeared, children took turns finding it and sticking it on the teacher’s apron. We reinforced vocabulary with a TPR activity, repeating the words with gestures and playing with tone, volume, and funny voices.

In the closing activity, we dressed Pete with his favourite clothes on the class poster. Together we said: “Pete is cool!” before finishing with our goodbye ritual.

Hoxe presentamos o conto na clase seguindo a sesión planificada: comezamos coas rutinas de saúdos, accións e tempo. Na lectura compartida, cada vez que aparecía unha prenda, por quendas os nenos buscábana e pegábana no mandil da mestra. Reforzamos o vocabulario cunha actividade TPR, repetindo as palabras con xestos e xogando co ton, volume e voces divertidas.

Na actividade de closing, vestimos a Pete coa súa roupa favorita no póster da aula. Todos repetimos: “Pete is cool!” antes de rematar co ritual de despedida..
