Comparatives & Superlatives Bee-Bot Challenge in 6th Grade!


A collaborative and gamified grammar mission to wrap up the unit

To close our unit on comparatives and superlatives, our 6th grade students took part in a fun and meaningful challenge using Bee-Bots.
We created a giant floor mat full of grammar traps and clues!

Para rematar a unidade sobre os comparativos e superlativos en inglés, o alumnado de 6.º participou nun reto divertido e significativo usando os Bee-Bots.
Preparamos unha gran alfombra chea de pistas e trampas gramaticais!


Learning goals

  • Identify and use comparative and superlative adjectives correctly.
  • Practice oral production and sentence building.
  • Apply computational thinking in a language-based task.
  • Work cooperatively and reflect on grammar choices.
  • Identificar e usar correctamente os adxectivos en grao comparativo e superlativo.
  • Practicar a expresión oral e a creación de frases.
  • Aplicar o pensamento computacional nunha tarefa lingüística.
  • Traballar de forma cooperativa e reflexionar sobre a gramática.

How did it work?

Students worked in teams . Each group followed these steps:

O alumnado organizouse en equipos . Cada grupo tiña que seguir estes pasos:

  1. 🎲 Roll the dice / Tiraban o dado: cada cara indicaba “comparative” ou “superlative”.
  2. 🃏 Pick an adjective card / Collían unha tarxeta con un adxectivo en grao positivo (fast, tall, good…).
  3. 🔎 Find the correct form / Buscaban na alfombra a forma correcta do adxectivo en comparativo ou superlativo.
  4. 🤖 Program the Bee-Bot / Programaban o Bee-Bot para chegar á palabra correcta.
  5. 🗣️ Make a sentence / Inventaban unha frase en inglés usando esa palabra.

⚠️ The mat included wrong options too (like most social or gooder), so they had to think carefully!
⚠️ Na alfombra había tamén formas incorrectas, polo que tiñan que pensar ben antes de programar!


Collaboration & Reflection

Each member had a role, and they rotated after each round.
At the end, we had a whole-class feedback session, sharing sentences and correcting mistakes together.

Cada membro do equipo tiña un rol distinto, que ían rotando.
Ao final da actividade fixemos unha posta en común en gran grupo, compartindo frases e corrixindo erros entre todas e todos.


A meaningful grammar adventure

This activity helped our students use grammar in context, move, create, and reflect — all at once!
They learned by doing, thinking and having fun together.

Esta actividade permitiu ao alumnado usar a gramática en contexto, moverse, crear e reflexionar ao mesmo tempo.
Aprenderon facendo, pensando e desfrutando da aprendizaxe en equipo.
