Starting from a Story
In our English sessions we started with the story “We’re Going on an Easter Hunt”, a lovely book with rhymes, rhythm and lots of repetition.
Na aula de inglés comezamos coa lectura do conto “We’re Going on an Easter Hunt”, unha historia rimada e repetitiva que nos animou a vivir unha gran aventura de Pascua.
“Let’s go on an Easter hunt… Let’s find them all!”
Cooperative Teams
We worked in mixed-age teams (3, 4 and 5 year olds). Older children helped the younger ones count, look, and find the hidden baskets.
Organizámonos en equipos con nenos e nenas de diferentes idades (3, 4 e 5 anos). Os maiores guiaban aos máis pequenos para buscar, contar e emparellar.
Each team had a name inspired by the characters in the story:
🐥 Team Chick, 🐤 Team Duck, 🐝 Team Bee, 🐑 Team Lamb
Cada equipo tiña un nome dun personaxe do conto:
🐥 Equipo Pitiño, 🐤 Equipo Parrulo, 🐝 Equipo Abella, 🐑 Equipo Año
Each team had a flashlight and a Basket Tracker Sheet.
Cada equipo tiña unha lanterna e unha folla de rexistro para anotar ou debuxar.
The Big Turn-Based Hunt
Each group had 3 minutes to:
- 🔍 Find a hidden basket using the flashlight
- 🥚 Count how many eggs were inside
- 🔢 Match the basket to the correct number hidden in the classroom
But… the numbers were not visible! They were hidden inside envelopes all around the classroom! Each group had to search, count, and find the correct hidden number. It was an activity full of observation, logic, movement, and collaboration.
It was a fun and exciting scavenger hunt!
Cada grupo tiña 3 minutos para:
- 🔍 Atopar unha cesta agochada coa lanterna
- 🥚 Contar cantos ovos había
- 🔢 Buscar o número correcto e emparellalo coa súa cesta
Pero os números non estaban á vista! Estaban agochados dentro de sobres por diferentes lugares da aula! Foi unha actividade de observación, lóxica, movemento e colaboración.
Foi unha busca chea de emoción e aprendizaxes!
Speaking through Counting
We focused on oral production in English through counting: The children counted out loud in English while searching for the matching basket and number.
Traballamos a expresión oral en inglés a través do conteo dos ovos: Os nenos e nenas contaban en voz alta en inglés mentres buscaban a coincidencia entre cestas e números.
Group Review and Celebration
At the end, we sat in a circle and checked all the pairs:
Ao rematar, sentámonos en círculo e comprobamos se os emparellamentos eran correctos.
We then put the baskets in order from 1 to 10 and clapped for each team.
Logo puxemos as cestas en orde e aplaudimos a cada equipo polo seu esforzo.
Materials and Atmosphere
The bunny ear crowns and paper baskets we used came from Aula en Juego, a wonderful resource full of creative ideas. We played music, used flashlights and chocolate Easter eggs to make the experience magical!
As coroas coas orellas de coello e as cestiñas de papel sacámolas da web Aula en Juego, un recurso moi útil para profesorado creativo. Ambientamos a clase con música, lanternas e ovos de chocolate para crear unha experiencia chea de maxia.
What did we learn?
