Unlocking the Chamber of Secrets!

Last January, our young wizards and witches started an exciting adventure with our Harry Potter-themed game: Mission 2 – Opening the Chamber of Secrets! Students completed tasks that revealed letters in a Parseltongue word to unlock the chamber.

Through this magical journey, students followed a structured process:

Planning: They brainstormed and organized their ideas about their favorite aspects of school, such as their favorite day or subject.
Drafting: They wrote a first version of their work, focusing on expressing their ideas in English.
Presenting: After revising their drafts, they created a final version, incorporating improvements and corrections.
Speaking: Finally, they shared their presentations with the class, practicing their public speaking skills in English.
Self-Assessment: Students regularly reflected on their progress and noted areas for improvement.

O pasado xaneiro, os nosos mozos magos e meigas comezaron unha aventura de gamificación temática de Harry Potter: Misión 2 – Abrir a Cámara dos Segredos. Para lograr isto, o alumnado tivo que realizar tarefas que desbloqueaban letras na palabra en lingua pársel para abrir a cámara.

A través desta viaxe máxica, o alumnado seguiu un proceso estruturado:

Planificación: Organizaron as súas ideas sobre os aspectos favoritos da escola, como o seu día ou materia preferida.
Redacción: Escribiron unha versión inicial do seu traballo en inglés.
Presentación: Tras revisar os borradores, fixeron unha versión final con melloras e correccións.
Expresión oral: Compartiron as súas presentacións coa clase, practicando a expresión oral en inglés.
Autoavaliación: O alumnado fixo unha autoavaliación continua, reflexionando sobre o seu progreso e identificando áreas de mellora.

By adding gamification to our English lessons, students were excited to finish each task, wanting to earn the next letter and open the Chamber of Secrets! This approach makes learning enjoyable and improves several important skills:

Writing: Organizing thoughts and structuring coherent sentences.
Speaking and Listening: Practicing pronunciation, fluency, and active listening during presentations.
Collaboration: Encouraging teamwork and peer feedback.
Critical Thinking: Making decisions about content and improving their drafts based on feedback.
Creativity: Personalizing their presentations and making them engaging for their classmates.
Self-Reflection: Developing awareness of their learning process and taking ownership of their improvement.

Ao integrar a gamificación nas aulas de inglés, o alumnado estivo motivado para completar cada fase da misión e abrir a Cámara dos Segredos. Esta metodoloxía fai que a aprendizaxe sexa divertida e mellora habilidades clave.

Escrita: Organizar ideias e estruturar frases.
Expresión e comprensión oral: Practicar a pronunciación, a fluidez e a escoita activa durante as presentacións.
Colaboración: Fomentar o traballo en equipo e o feedback entre iguais.
