Welcome to the magical world of Hogwarts! Our 6th-grade students have been working hard on their first mission of the Harry Potter gamification: “The Weekend Tales of Hogwarts”.
In this mission, the students became writers, planners, and creators. Their challenge? To make an amazing comic about a magical weekend at Hogwarts! They used the past simple tense and basic connectors like First, Next, Then, and Finally to tell their story.
¡Benvidos ao mundo máxico de Hogwarts! Os alumnos de 6º de primaria estiveron traballando duro na súa primeira misión da gamificación de Harry Potter: “As Fins de Semana de Hogwarts”.
Nesta misión, os alumnos convertéronse en escritores, planificadores e creadores. O seu reto? Crear un cómic incribible sobre unha fin de semana máxica en Hogwarts! Empregaron o pasado simple e conectores básicos como First, Next, Then e Finally para contar a súa historia.
Here’s how they completed the mission:
- Planning the story: Students imagined a magical weekend full of adventures. They had to choose at least three places they visited in Hogwarts and write two actions for each place: one positive action and one negative action. This helped them create exciting and balanced stories.
2. Writing the draft: They wrote their ideas step by step, thinking about the order of events.
3. Creating the comic: Using Canva, they brought their stories to life. Each comic included:
- Text boxes for the narration.
- Speech bubbles for the characters’ dialogue.
- A character that represented themselves, adding a personal touch to their magical story.
4 .Presenting in class: Each student shared their comic and practiced speaking in English.
Así completaron a misión:
- Planificar a historia: Os alumnos imaxinaron unha fin de semana máxica chea de aventuras. Tiveron que escoller polo menos tres lugares de Hogwarts que visitaron e escribir dúas accións para cada lugar: unha en afirmativo e outra en negativo. Isto axudounos a crear historias emocionantes e equilibradas.
- Escribir o borrador: Escribiron as súas ideas paso a paso, pensando na orde dos acontecementos.
- Crear o cómic: Usando Canva, deron vida ás súas historias. Cada cómic incluía:
- Caixas de texto para a narración.
- Bocadillos para os diálogos dos personaxes.
- Un personaxe que os representase a eles mesmos, engadindo un toque persoal á súa historia máxica.
- Presentar na clase: Cada alumno compartiu o seu cómic e practicou falar en inglés.
At the end, we added a fun activity: peer evaluation. The students gave feedback to each other about their comics, which helped them reflect on their work as well as make improvements. This feedback made their stories even better and more creative and helped them learn how to give and receive comments in a positive way.
Ao final, engadimos unha actividade divertida: avaliación por pares. Os alumnos deron feedback aos seus compañeiros sobre os cómics, o que lles axudou a reflexionar sobre o seu traballo as well as melloralo. Este feedback fixo que as súas historias fosen aínda mellores e máis creativas.
Why is this activity special?
- Peer evaluation: Students learned to improve their work by considering classmates’ feedback.
- Speaking and writing: This mission combined writing skills with speaking practice, making English fun and useful.
- Gamification: Making learning fun like a game helps students stay motivated and enjoy learning!
As a reward for their amazing efforts, they earned the Key of Perseverance! 🎉
- Avaliación por pares: Os alumnos aprenderon a reflexionar e mellorar o seu traballo escoitando as opinións dos compañeiros, as well as considerando como mellorar as súas propias historias.
- Expresión oral e escrita: Esta misión combinou habilidades de escritura con práctica oral, facendo que o inglés fose divertido e útil.
- Gamificación: Converter a aprendizaxe nun xogo motiva aos alumnos a traballar duro e gozar do proceso!
