Autumn is here again and, we are going to start a new project in kindergarten.
Before going to sleep, Brown Bear help us get to know this wonderful season better! Are you ready? Open your eyes and your ears, silence and…I’ll begin..
Winter is about to finish and I don’t want to say it goodbaye without looking back over the last month and remembering some significant moments we have spent working on our Winter Project.
This topic was explored through songs, games and art crafts which allowed them to learn a lot of things related to this season (clothes, weather, instructions, numbers, colours, feelings,..) in an easy and fun way.
Comprobado!!!!!
Winter is here again! But Autumn left in kindergarten a wide variety of fun activities, crafts, songs , TPR activities and a colourful story called “Brown Bear, What do you see?”
O inverno xa voltou pero o outono nos deixou unha chea de actividades, cancións e un maravilloso conto titulado “Brown Bear, What do you see?”
Based on an Eric Carle’s story published in 1967, I designed this story to help children associate colours and meaning to objects through colourful pictures and a simple repetitive language. This rhythmic story is a perfect introduction to looking and learning about colours, numbers, animals and other common fall things.
After working with this book, my children were able to tell the story and sing the song by their own. It was fantastic!
This project offers a wide range of math, literary skills, working across the curriculum to incorporate play, imagination and art.
We are back to school again and, sometimes new students don’t feel confident on his first day. Spot Goes to School,a classic Spot book by Eric Hill, gives teachers the opportunity to deal with this important issue going through several emotions on Spot’s first day .
Spot Goes to School is a lovely lift the flap board book which introduces some of the activities that take place in a school, the vocabulary related to school objects, instructions, greetings and goodbyes, and so on.
“The Secret Name”, an idea from Heidi Songs, is our first kindergarten project this year. It’s a quick and fun project that is just perfect for the beginning of the school year, and there is almost no prep at all! You only have to write your kid’s name on a white cardstock using a white watercolor crayon resist (Crayola brand)and then, let your children paint once the white cardstock with liquid water colours(from Discount School Supply). Their names show up. It’s MAGIC!

We have just finished our short project about winter based on the book called The first Day of Winter. We enjoyed creating our own books, building up a snowman and learning some fun songs about snowflakes and snowmen. Take a look at this video.
Here you have one of the number songs we are learning which is part of the activities developed this term in our eTwinning project “Amazing Maths!
Amazing maths! Creating funny math activities in kindergarten is the new eTwinning project in which my kindergarteners are participating this school year together with other children from different European countries.
Do maths for maths has little interest. For this reason, all of the teachers who participate in this project want to play with maths in a funny or artistic way and creating math activities for the others.
Amazing maths!
The theme for October and November is “Shapes are everywhere, let’s play with them (can be linked with Art)”
My students have just discovered that shapes are everywhere even in art. So during these months, we are going to work with a Russian artist called Wassily Kandinski, one of the founding fathers of Abstract Art.Kandinsky’s early paintings were landscapes that were heavily influenced by Impressionist artists . But about 1909 Kandinsky began to think that shapes and colours alone could be art. Kandinsky felt that he could express feelings and music through colours and shapes in his paintings. The shapes he was most interested in were the circle, triangle, and the square. He thought the triangle would cause aggressive feelings, the square calm feelings, and the circle spiritual feelings.
